Microsoft will be holding an education-focused event titled “Reimagine Education” on February 9, 2023. The event will feature Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Vice Chair and President Brad Smith, plus other education executives at Microsoft.
“In this event, we will showcase how schools are using technology, including some new tools to improve reading, writing, math and communication skills to prepare students for their future,” the company said in the announcement. The event will kick off at 9 AM PT on February 9, and it will be streamed live.
Microsoft remains an important player in the education market where Windows devices are competing with Chromebooks and iPads. Back in November 2021, Microsoft announced the Surface Laptop SE for education and Windows 11 SE, a special version of Windows 11 that’s optimized for the education market.
We haven’t heard much about Windows 11 SE laptops since last year, but Microsoft’s description of the event suggests a strong software focus. We’ll see what happens on February 9, but the presence of both Satya Nadella and Microsoft President Brad Smith is already quite interesting.
So far, Microsoft has announced quite a lot of news today: We’ve already had a new $1.99/month Microsoft Basic Tier, the launch of the Microsoft 365 web app, plus some gaming news with an Xbox event on January 25 and new sustainability updates for Xbox consoles. And it’s not too late for the company to release new Windows 11 Insider builds as well today.
