Microsoft Launches New Xbox Mastercard in Partnership With Barclays Bank

Xbox Mastercard

Microsoft is launching a new Xbox Mastercard in partnership with Barclays that will be exclusively available for Xbox insiders in the US later this fall. This new Xbox Mastercard will allow Xbox enthusiasts to earn points with their purchases that they can redeem on the Microsoft Store.

The no-annual-fee card will be available in five different designs that can be personalized with a gamertag, and it will support contactless payments and digital wallets. Other perks include $0 fraud liability protection, however, APR rates range from 20.99% to 31.99% based on your creditworthiness.

Here’s how the points system, which isn’t tied to Microsoft Rewards points works:

  • You get 1 point for every $1 spent on everyday purchases. When you reach 1,500 points, you can redeem a $15 Microsoft Store gift card.
  • You can earn more points with eligible purchases on the Microsoft Store (5x card points). Microsoft also offers 3x card points on eligible streaming services such as Netflix and Disney+.
  • You also get a bonus of 5,000 points ($50 value) after your first purchase, as well as 3 months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate code that can only be redeemed by new subscribers (you’re free to gift it)

“The Xbox Mastercard will be available exclusively to Xbox Insiders in the 50 United States beginning on September 21, with availability to all Xbox players in the 50 United States coming in 2024,” the Xbox team today. If you’re an Xbox Insider, the availability of this Xbox Mastercard will expand in waves throughout the fall.
