Microsoft’s annual Build developer conference will return to Seattle this year on May 19-22. May is usually a busy month for developer news as Google usually holds its I/O conference earlier in the month. After Build 2025, Apple should follow up with its WWDC conference in early June.
There’s not much information about Build 2025 right now beyond an enigmatic “We’re building a new path forward” message on X. However, the event will likely have a heavy AI/Copilot focus, just like last year.

You may remember that last year’s Build conference was preceded by a special Surface and AI event where Microsoft officially announced its first “Copilot+ PCs” powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Series chips. It will be interesting to see if Microsoft will once again announce new hardware ahead of its big developer event.
While Build 2025 is three months away, Microsoft is also carrying on with its global AI Tour, offering AI enthusiasts a series of free one-day events across the world. The company announced new Intel-powered Surface Pro and Surface Laptop for Business during its recent New York Stop on January 30. On this occasion, Microsoft also reiterated how it plans to unlock productivity on Copilot+ PCs with new AI features. That includes the AI-powered Windows Search experience that’s currently available for Windows Insiders.
