Huawei’s Mate 30 Lineup Shows Up Early

Mate 30 Pro

Later this week, Huawei will announce its new Mate30 series of devices. Like Apple, Samsung, and Google in the near future, Huawei is revamping their smartphones ahead of the holiday shopping season.

The images, coming from Evan Blass, shows off the Mate 30 Pro, Mate 30 Porsche Design, Mate 30, and Mate 30 Lite. At this point, modern smartphones are starting to blend in with a notch, a ‘waterfall’ style curved display, and for budget phones, a nearly full front display with fewer cameras and slower processors.

That being said, these phones do look like solid contenders in their marketing images and one thing is clear: Huawei found a better way to group four cameras than Apple did with the iPhone Pro. While it is personal taste, I find these devices (and even Samsung’s or Google’s upcoming Pixel 4) having a much better camera layout than what Apple created.

The Mate 30 Pro also brings back memories of the Lumia 1020 with its large camera-disc on the back of the device.

The phones will be announced officially this week but with US sanctions hanging over the company, seeing how the company will work around these issues will likely be the bigger conversation than the actual technology or design.

The camera layout on the new iPhone 11 is just plain ugly, and by that I mean real, terrible, bad ugly. It actually looks like Apple didn't even really try, and just took last years phone body and slapped, without even looking, a few cameras on the back. This looks much nicer, and quite stylish.

Is the "Porsche Design" one the first higher-end phone in years to not have shiny-slick metal or glass on the back?

I think this will be the most interesting handset launch for a very long time...
