Surface Duo 2 December Update Addresses Android 12L Calling Issues

Surface Duo 2

Microsoft has released the December 2022 software update for the Surface Duo 2 and the original Surface Duo (via Windows Central). In addition to security fixes, Microsoft has addressed the calling issues that have been plaguing the Surface Duo 2 since the release of the Android 12L update in October.

According to the release notes, this month’s update should fix two separate issues: incoming calls going directly to voicemail, and outgoing calls ending immediately. These are pretty serious bugs that could make the Surface Duo 2 pretty much unusable for affected users.

Android 12L was a pretty big update for the Surface Duo 2 and the original Surface Duo, bringing Windows accent color styles and dynamic theming to the custom version of Android. In addition to this new Fluent UI, Android 12L on the Surface Duo also introduced a new Pen menu for Microsoft’s Surface Slim Pen 2.

To download the December update on your Surface Duo, you need to open the Settings app and go to System > System update > Check for updates. If you encountered calling issues after upgrading to Android 12L, let us know in the comments if this updated helped.
