Apple released yesterday iOS 17.0.1, iPadOS 17.0.1, and macOS Ventura 13.6 to fix critical vulnerabilities that are already being exploited by attackers. Apple released iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 on Monday, and if you have already installed the major updates on your devices, it’s time to check for updates again.

On iOS and macOS, Apple fixed a kernel vulnerability allowing attackers to elevate their privileges, as well as vulnerability in the security framework allowing apps to bypass signature validation. On iOS and iPadOS, Apple also fixed a critical vulnerability in its WebKit web engine where processing web content may lead to arbitrary code execution.

iOS 17 introduces several new features such as Safari profiles, Offline Maps, a new StandBy mode for recent iPhones, as well as Siri improvements. For iPad users, iPadOS 17 brings widgets to the lock screen, a feature that made its debut in iOS 16 last year. For Mac users, the next annual feature update, macOS Sonoma will be available next week on September 26.

Today is also the release date of the new iPhone 15 and Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2 models. The new iPhone 15 and 15 Pro ship with iOS 17, so again, early enthusiasts may want to check for updates and install iOS 17.0.1 as soon as possible.
