Microsoft’s Surface Laptop Studio 2 and Laptop Go 3 Are Now Available

The new Surface devices that Microsoft officially announced at its special event two weeks ago are now available. The Surface Laptop Studio 2, which starts at $1,999.99, is probably the real eye-catcher thanks to its 13th gen Intel Core 7 CPUs, optional Nvidia GPUs, and a brand new neural processing unit to speed up AI workloads.

The first Surface Laptop Studio 2 reviews that have been published today have pointed out the noticeable performance bump compared to the previous generation released two years ago. However, it looks like battery life can be an issue, and the top-of-the-line models with Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 or 2000 Ada GPUs cost a minimum of $3,299.99, which isn’t exactly competitive.

The new Surface Laptop Go 3, which starts at $799.99, has kept the same design with a 12.4-inch screen, but the internals have been upgraded with a 12th Gen Intel Core i5 CPU and 8 or 16GB of RAM. However, this is still a “budget” laptop with no backlit keyboard, which may be a dealbreaker at this price point.

Lastly, the new $579.99 Surface Go 4 is only available for business customers, unlike previous models. The new tablet also keeps the same form factor with a 10.5-inch screen, and the tablet now ships with an Intel N200 CPU, 8GB of RAM, and up to 256GB of storage.

If new iPhones and Surface devices are now available for consumers, “Techtober” is just getting started and Google is holding an event tomorrow to unveil the Pixel 8 family and the Pixel Watch 2. Lastly, Apple usually announces new Macs and iPads in October, and the company may reveal the first M3-based Macs pretty soon.
