Samsung has taken the wraps off its new Galaxy S25 series today, with the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra bringing incremental changes to Samsung’s flagship smartphone lineup. Just like its competitors, Samsung is betting on new AI features to really stand out, and the latest wave of “Galaxy AI” features, which rely heavily on Google Gemini, do surpass Apple Intelligence features on the latest iPhones.

Overall, the Galaxy S25 and the Galaxy S25+ look pretty much identical to their predecessors, except for a new camera design. The Galaxy S25 Ultra, however, is getting curved corners, a new Corning Gorilla Armor 2 anti-reflective ceramic cover material, and a slightly less versatile S Pen.

The Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ come with 6.2” and 6.7” displays, respectively. Both devices come with 12GB of RAM, up to 512GB of storage, and the same camera system with a 12MP Ultra-wide camera, 50MP Wide camera, 10MP Telephoto camera, and 12MP Front camera.

The bigger Galaxy S25+ comes with a 4,900 mAh battery compared to 4,000mAh on the Galaxy 25. However, both phones are powered by the new Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, a customized version of Qualcomm’s top-of-the-line smartphone silicon.

“With unique customizations by Galaxy, this is the most powerful processor ever on Galaxy S series, delivering a performance boost of 40% in NPU, 37% in CPU and 30% in GPU compared to previous generation,” Samsung said today. “This power fuels the Galaxy S25 series’ ability to process more AI experiences on-device without compromise, including previously cloud-based AI tasks such as Generative Edit.”

The Galaxy S25 Ultra brings more substantial design changes to the lineup including a more rounded titanium body and a 6.9” display protected by Corning Gorilla Armor 2 technology. The new S Pen on the Galaxy S25 Ultra, however, is losing the S Pen Air commands available on the S24 Ultra.

Just like its smaller siblings, the Galaxy S25 Ultra uses a Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chip coupled with 12GB of RAM. While the S25 Ultra is available with up to 1TB of storage, its 5,000mAh battery is just slightly bigger than the one on the S25+. As for the camera system, there’s a 50MP Ultra-wide camera, a 200MP Ultra-wide camera, a 50MP Telephoto camera, and a 10MP telephoto camera on the back, plus a 12MP sensor on the front.

New One UI 7 and Galaxy AI features

The Galaxy S25 Series comes with Android 15 with Samsung’s One UI 7 interface, and all three devices will get seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates. With One UI 7, Samsung is also introducing a mix of new AI features powered by Google’s Gemini AI for the most part. All Galaxy S25 devices also come with 6 months of Gemini Advanced and 2TB of cloud storage at no extra cost.

With Gemini Advanced, Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Series supports the latest version of Google Gemini Nano AI, the company’s most capable multimodal AI model. Gemini Advanced also provides access to new features such as custom “Gems” chatbots and Deep Research, a new personal AI research assistant.

Google Gemini is the default AI assistant on the Galaxy S25 lineup and it can be accessed by long pressing the side button. Gemini on Galaxy S25 devices can work across multiple apps in a single prompt, and it also powers Samsung’s TalkBack accessibility app that can read what’s on the screen.

Samsung worked with Google to improve Android’s Circle to Search feature. It can now recognize phone numbers, email and URLs on the screen of Galaxy S25 devices. There are also new Gemini Extensions for Samsung Reminder, Samsung Calendar, Samsung Notes and Samsung Clock, plus the ability to add images & more to the Gemini Live conversational experience.

Samsung’s own Galaxy AI tools are also still present with Call Transcript, Writing Assist, and Drawing Assist. A new Now Brief feature will also proactively offers suggestions via the Now Bar on the lock screen.
