Samsung officially revealed its new Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 today, the latest editions of its foldable phones that come with slightly bigger displays, various design improvements, and useful Galaxy AI features. The company also announced two new smartwatches today with the Galaxy Watch 8 and Galaxy Watch 8 Classic.
The Galaxy 7 Fold7 is Samsung’s new flagship foldable phone with an ultra-thin design, wider cover display, and a restructured hinge. There’s now a 6.5-inch cover screen and an 8.0-inch main screen, both with a 120 Hz refresh rate. The phone comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, up to 16GB of memory, and up to 1TB of storage.
On the camera front, the Galaxy Z Fold7 comes with two 10MP cameras on the cover and the front of the main display. There’s also a triple camera system on the back with a 200MP wide-angle camera, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, and a 10MP telephoto camera. Samsung said that its next-generation ProVisual Engine now processes images faster and delivers even more details.
The Galaxy Z Fold7 features Samsung’s new One UI 8 with new context-aware features. “Designed as a true multimodal agent, One UI 81 seamlessly combines large-screen multitasking with intelligent tools that understand what users type, say, and even see,” the company said today.
The new phone also supports AI features powered by Google Gemini such as Circle to Search and Gemini Live. The latter can help users understand what they see with camera and screen sharing capabilities.
The Galaxy Z Fold7 is available for pre-order starting today, and it will start shipping on July 25. It starts at $1,999.99 on Samsung’s website.
Samsung’s latest clamshell device now features a larger 4.1-inch edge-to-edge cover screen and a 6.9-inch main screen, both with a 120Hz refresh rate. Google’s Gemini Live will also natively support the Galaxy Z Flip 7’s cover screen.
The Galaxy Z Flip7 uses Samsung’s Exynos 2500 chip instead of Qualcomm silicon, and it offers 12GB of memory and up to 512GB of storage. Overall, Samsung claims that the Z Flip7 is its thinnest and most durable model, weighing just 188 grams and measuring only 13.7mm when folded. The device’s hinge is also thinner and features more durable materials, and Samsung included a bigger 4,300mAh battery.
The camera system is simpler with a 10MP front camera and two cameras on the back, a 12MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 50MP wide-angle camera. Both cameras support Samsung’s ProVisual Engine that intelligently optimizes photos.
The cheaper Galaxy Z Flip7 FE was also announced today, and this model features a 6.7-inch main display and a 3.4-inch cover screen. The phone comes with a Samsung Exynos 2400 chip, 8GB of memory, up to 256GB of storage, and a smaller 4,000 mAh battery. The camera system includes a 10MP selfie camera, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, and a 50MP wide-angle camera.
Both the Galaxy Z Flip7 and Flip7 FE are available for pre-order starting today and will start shipping on July 25. The Galaxy Z Flip7 starts at $1,099.99 and the Flip7 FE at $899.99.
The new Galaxy Watch8 now features the same cushion design previously seen on the Galaxy Watch Ultra, and it’s 11% thinner than the previous model. The new watch now comes with a 50% brighter display with a peak brightness of 3,000nits, a bigger battery, and a new BioActive Sensor delivering more accurate health insights.
On the software front, the Galaxy Watch8 adds support for Bedtime Guidance, Vascular Load, and Antioxidant Index. The watch will also let users interact with Google’s Gemini AI hands-free.
The Galaxy Watch8 is available in 44mm or 40mm sizes and in Graphite or Silver. The Galaxy Watch8 Classic, however, measures 46mm and comes in Black and White. It also comes with a rotating bezel and a quick button for added convenience. The Galaxy Watch 8 starts at $349.99, while the Classic version is priced at $499.99.
