CarPlay Users Can Now Chat With Gemini in Google Maps

Carplay Gemini in Google Maps

Google’s Gemini chatbot is now available as a conversational assistant for drivers using Google Maps via CarPlay. From the new Gemini button in the Google Maps app, CarPlay users can talk with Gemini completely hands-free to ask for information about where they want to go and more.

This new conversational experience for CarPlay users follows the recent launch of the Ask Maps feature in Google Maps. On mobile, the Gemini-powered feature can help users to search for local venues and events, get real-time transit information, and more in a conversational way.

Google said today that CarPlay users can ask Gemini multi-step questions in Maps, and the chatbot can also report traffic incidents. The new experience is rolling out to all CarPlay users globally.

Yesterday, Google also announced another Gemini-related update for Android Auto and cars with Google built in. On these vehicles, the optional Personal Intelligence feature, which lets Gemini access data from Gmail, Google Calendar, and other Google apps to offer more personalized responses, is now available.
