OnePlus is integrating Google’s Duo video-calling service into its handsets. The company today announced that it’s working on a new update for OxygenOS that will natively integrate Google Duo into the devices.
Google Duo will be the native video calling option for OnePlus users, though they will still have the option to access traditional, carrier-based video calling option from settings.

Apart from being the native video calling provider, Google Duo will also integrate into parts of the OS like Call Logs, Contacts, the Dial Pad, and Messaging. So it is a pretty well thought-out integration on OnePlus’ side, and to be honest, I was only expecting the company to simply ship the Duo app out-of-the-box with OyxgenOS, but the greater level of integration here is pretty cool.
OnePlus says the Google Duo integration will roll out with OxygenOS 9.0.12 build on the OnePlus 6T, and OxygenOS 9.0.4 for OnePlus 6, 5 and 5T and eventually on OnePlus 3 and 3T with the Android Pie update. It’s not clear exactly when these updates will be shipped, however.
