After announcing last year that it would move to a unified Android version with Oppo, OnePlus has hit pause and will release OxygenOS 13 first.
“We’re bringing back our Open Ears Forum (OEF) as an online event to overcome the distance between us with a brand new topic, OxygenOS 13,” a recent OnePlus forum announcement notes. “This is one of the biggest topics we’ve brought to Open Ears Forums to date, so don’t miss this chance. Your feedback will be instrumental to shape one of our most important OS updates. The OxygenOS team is hard at work and they want to hear from you.”

That’s interesting because OnePlus was going to walk away from its vaunted OxygenOS and use an updated version of Oppo’s ColorOS for its handsets instead. It’s also potentially good news, because the move to ColorOS was not well-liked by the vocal OnePlus fanbase at all. That said, this could be a temporary change while Oppo/OnePlus figures out how to move to a consolidated ColorOS.
Until OnePlus clarifies the situation, we can only guess what the future will hold. But if you want to be part of that future, you can apply to join the Online OEF that will help determine what OxygenOS 13 is like.
