Google Releases Android 14 Beta 5

Google this week released Android 14 Beta 5, which the firm describes as the final beta release before this version goes final.
“With the official release of Android 14 only weeks away, today we’re bringing you Beta 5, the last scheduled update in our Android 14 beta program,” Google vice president Dave Burke explains. “It’s the last chance to make sure your apps are ready and provide feedback before non-beta users start getting Android 14. To enable you to test your applications on devices spanning multiple form factors, Beta 5 is available for Pixel Tablet and Pixel Fold, in addition to the rest of the supported Pixel family and the Android emulator.”

Beta 5 is also the third “platform stable” pre-release milestone for Android 14, which indicates that the developer APIs and all public-facing app behaviors are final and ready for inclusion in third-party apps. Developers can now publish Android 14-based apps in the Google Play Store.
To get started with this release, those with supported Pixel devices—Pixel 4a (5G), Pixel 5 and 5a, Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7 and 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel Fold, Pixel Tablet—can enroll in the beta on the Android Beta website. Otherwise, you can configure a 64-bit Android emulator in Android Studio’s SDK Manager: Google recommends using Android Studio Hedgehog, which is now in preview.
