Samsung is Bringing Galaxy AI to Previous Generation Phones in the U.S.

Galaxy A1 is coming to more devices tomorrow

Samsung will deliver Galaxy AI capabilities to its Galaxy S23 series, S23 FE, Z Fold5, and Z Flip5 phones and the Tab S9 series tablets via a One UI update that begins rolling out tomorrow, March 28. These technologies were originally made available on the recently released Galaxy S24 series only.

“Samsung’s launch of Galaxy AI marked the beginning of a new era for Galaxy smartphones, offering enhanced experiences that harness the power of AI to help you communicate across language barriers, share your most impressive creations, and be even more productive,” the Samsung announcement notes. “Galaxy AI puts our groundbreaking suite of AI tools in the palm of more users’ hands in different form factors — tailoring the mobile experience to their needs. Now, Samsung is bringing Galaxy AI features to even more users across the Galaxy ecosystem.”

The following Galaxy AI features will be included in One UI 6.1 on supported devices when it begins rolling out Thursday:

Circle to Search with Google. This new feature lets you search from any app by using a simple gesture that works everywhere.

Live Translate. This feature is available in the Samsung Phone app, so you can hold conversations with two-way voice translations and live captions during calls.

Chat Assist. This new feature for the Samsung Keyboard provides translation aids, style enhancements, and grammar tweaks, and it can translate messages in 13 different languages.

Generative Edit. This AI photo enhancer can resize low-resolution images and seamlessly fill backgrounds in which objects were removed.

One UI 6.1 will begin rolling out across supported phones that were sold through Samsung.com, Amazon, Best Buy, and other retailers, plus carriers like AT&T, T-Mobile, US Cellular, and Verizon. It is also coming to Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra, Tab S9+ and Tab S9 Wi-Fi tablets beginning this week, Samsung says.
