Samsung this week announced the OneUI 8.5 Beta for customers with Galaxy S25 phones and devices who would like an early peek at the next major release of its Android-based user experience.
“One UI 8.5 enables users to do more with less effort, featuring upgrades that enable more seamless actions, device management, and enhanced security,” the Samsung announcement notes. “It introduces new and easier ways to create, connect, and stay safe.”
New features include:
Photo Assist improvements. Photo Assist now supports a continuous editing feature that allows you to make multiple edits without saving and then review all the creations in the edit history and pick the ones you wish to keep.
Quick Share improvements. Quick Share now uses AI to recognize people in photos and proactively suggest adding them to the list of people you’re sharing them with.
Audio Broadcast improvements. This Auracast-based feature works on devices with LE Audio capabilities and it now supports a voice broadcast feature that Samsung says is ideal for group situations like tours and other events.
Storage Share improvements. Storage Share will now show files on your other Galaxy devices, including tablets and PCs, directly in the My Files apps. This way, you can more easily access a phone’s files from a TV or other device.
Theft Protection improvements. Theft Protection now offers a Failed Authentication feature that automatically locks the screen if there are too many failed sign-ins. And Identity Check now now protects more settings than before.
Galaxy S25 series device owners in the United States can sign up for the OneUI 8.5 Beta in the Samsung Members app.
