Google Announces “Huge” Pixel Buds Update

Google will soon begin rolling out a big software update for Pixel Buds Pro 2 and Pixel Buds 2a that adds several new features.

“We are beyond excited to roll out a massive new software release_6.144 for your Pixel Buds, packed with highly anticipated features and AI-powered upgrades,” a new post to the Google Pixel Buds Help website reads. “Whether you are traveling the globe, commuting on a noisy train, or just trying to catch some sleep, this update is designed to make your everyday listening experience so much better.”

New features in this update include:

Dynamic Active Noise Cancellation. Pixel Buds Pro 2 will automatically adjust audio or noise cancellation based on the ear seal.

Enhanced Live Translate. Pixel Buds Pro 2 and Pixel Buds 2a will both support instant live translation via the Google Translate app without requiring you to take out your phone.

Change audio settings with your voice. Pixel Buds Pro 2 and Pixel Buds 2a will let you interact with device settings using Gemini voice commands.

Tap to Mute. Pixel Buds Pro 2 and Pixel Buds 2a will let you toggle mute during calls with a tap.

Auto-pause media while sleeping. Pixel Buds Pro 2 and Pixel Buds 2a will integrate with the sleep sensing features in Pixel Watch so they can pause audio playback, turn off touch gestures, and silence notifications when you fall asleep.

The update will install automatically when it becomes available, Google says.
