Proton VPN Comes to Windows 11 on Arm

Yes, Proton VPN is just the latest app to natively support Windows 11 on Arm, but it’s also a big one: VPN apps can’t run in emulation because they require system drivers, so this is a big win for the platform.

“We’re pleased to announce a new Proton VPN app with native support for Windows devices that use the ARM chipset,” Proton’s Douglas Crawford writes. “In use, this app works identically to our regular (x64) Windows app, offering all the advanced features you’re used to.”

Most of the original Proton post is an explanation of why Arm and the new Qualcomm Snapdragon X processors are so important. But as noted above, Proton VPN is functionally identical with Windows 11 on Arm, so it supports the same feature set as the x64 version. This includes features like Kill switch, Advanced kill switch, support for the WireGuard, OpenVPN, and Stealth protocols, Secure Core, NetShield Ad-blocker, VPN Accelerator, Split tunneling, Port forwarding, Moderate NAT, and Alternative routing.

You can download Proton VPN for Windows 11 on Arm from the Proton website. It requires a free or paid Proton account, though some features, like NetShield, require a paid account.
