Earlier this year, Microsoft announced that they would be bringing Cortana to all of the major smartphone platforms. Cortana on Android has already been released and for those of you on iOS, the company is opening up applications to test the new app.

Microsoft is looking for a limited number of users to try out Cortana on iOS and you can fill out the survey, here, to put your name into the applicant pool. Initially, Cortana will only be available for users in the US and China but over the coming months, they will expand the reach of the application.

Seeing as iOS takes a walled-garden approach, this means that Cortana on this platform will not be as robust as its Windows Phone or even its Android counterpart. For example, “Hey Cortana” is not yet supported on iOS. The company says they are trying to make the app the “perfect companion to your Windows experience”.

Even though Microsoft is limiting the initial beta, I wouldn’t be too surprised to see the files leak so that you can load the app locally on to your phone once the download links start going out.

If you do sign up and get into the program, let us know as we will be curious to see what all the app can do once it lands on iOS.

Thanks for the tip @NotCassim
