The wait is finally over: Microsoft has made the first version of Windows 10 Technical Preview 2 available for phones. Here’s what you need to know to get it as quickly as possible.
First, you need to be a member of the Windows Insider program. So head on over to the Windows Insider program and sign-up with your Microsoft account.
Next, you need to know which phones are supported. In this initial release, only the following handsets will be able to install Windows 10 Technical Preview 2: Lumia 630, 635, 638, 730 and 830. Right, just low-end phones. (And here’s a little gotcha: Not all countries will work. So you could have a supported phone but live in the wrong country. Gotcha!)

Still with us? Good, then you can move on to step three: install the Windows Insider app on your Windows Phone, assuming you haven’t already done so.
Now, run the Windows Insider app and, when prompted, sign-in with your Microsoft account.
Then, tap “Get Preview Builds.”
On the Enroll screen, choose Insider Slow or Insider Fast (recommended). Then, tap Next and confirm your choice.
Now, you have to visit Phone Updates in Settings. Check for updates if it’s not happening automatically.
MORE SOON: It’s happening as I write this…
