Lumia 950

It has been a long time coming but Microsoft has finally announced new flagship phones for Windows Phone fans. Even though they leaked several times ahead of the actual release, the Lumia 950 and 950XL are now official. In addition, the Lumia 550, a low end device, also was announced too.

The devices, which cost $549 for the 950, $649 for the 950 XL, will be available in November and the Lumia 550 will cost $139, is coming in December.

The 950 and 950 XL are positioned at the top end of the spectrum and will available for AT&T only, which will likely be a letdown for anyone on Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint. Although, the phones will be unlocked but that’s likely little comfort for those not on AT&T.

With two new flavors of high end phones, Microsoft is providing options for Windows Phone fans as the phones have similar specs but with 5.2in and 5.7in displays. There are also slight differences in the style too but they are still distinctly Lumia.

Paul and I will have a more in-depth preview on the new Lumias shortly.
