Spotify Launches Upgraded Subscription Plan for Families

Spotify is upgrading its Spotify Premium Family plan with some new features this week. The company is introducing new features that will help users manage their subscription better, and give them more control.

With the new update, parents will now be able to control what kind of content their kids and other family members can listen to. There’s a new Explicit Content Filter which parents can enable on other accounts to prevent their children from listening to songs with explicit content. This new option is available through the new Family Hub, where admins can now manage all their Family’s settings in one place.

Spotify is also launching a new playlist for families. Called Family Mix, it’s a personalised playlist that’s updated regularly to include songs based on the entire family’s taste. Spotify tested a similar idea with its Duo Mix for couples.

Spotify isn’t increasing the price for the Premium Family plan despite the new features, though. The company says these new features are launching in Ireland first, and it will be rolling out to other markets this fall.

Have been waiting for Spotify to add the explicit filter before I purchased I got a family account. Will definitely get this once it arrives in the UK.

Better yet, how about if Spotify actually updated their integration with voice assistants to allow different family members to play to smart speakers using their own profile instead of the main profile (i.e., mine)?
