Google Launches $30 Chromecast with Google TV HD

Google is launching a cheaper version of its Chromecast with Google TV today. The new Chromecast with Google TV HD is priced at $29.99 in the US (€39.99 in Europe), and it uses the same form factor and remote as the original 4K model that launched 2 years ago.

“Chromecast with Google TV (HD) streams in high definition with 1080p HDR, and we’ve made software optimizations behind the scenes to make sure you get a smooth and snappy experience no matter what TV you’re watching on,” Google said today.

This cheaper Chromecast with Google TV supports the same features as the previous model, including casting media, pictures and videos from Google Photos, and even Google Meet video calls to your TV. The included remote also includes shortcuts for Google Assistant, YouTube, and Netflix.

For a limited time, you can get 6 months of Peacock Premium for free with the purchase of a Chromecast with Google TV HD. The new HDMI dongle is available in 19 markets starting today with more regions coming soon. The original Chromecast with Google TV 4K also remains available at $49.99.
