YouTube Premium Family Plan Now Costs $22.99 Per Month

The YouTube Premium Family Plan has received its first big price hike. The plan now costs $22.99/ month instead of $17.99/month, making it even more expensive than Netflix’s $19.99/month Premium plan in the US.
The new pricing for the YouTube Premium Family plan is now live for new subscribers. In an email to existing subscribers (via 9to5Google), Google explained the price hike will happen on the next billing cycle starting after November 21.

We created YouTube Premium to provide an uninterrupted YouTube experience, so you can get closer to the videos, creators, and music artists that you love. To continue delivering great service and features, we will be increasing your Premium family plan price from $17.99/month to $22.99/month.
This change will take place on your next billing cycle starting on or after November 21, 2022. To check the status of your account and billing information, go to your Settings > Purchases and Memberships page. All members have the flexibility to pause or cancel anytime here.
This price hike comes after YouTube launched a test to lock 4K quality behind a YouTube Premium subscription. YouTube has since confirmed that it has turned off this experiment, and all viewers can now watch videos in 4K for free.
There’s no change in price for YouTube Premium individual subscriptions, which still cost $11.99 a month. In addition to an ad-free experience, YouTube Premium subscribers can save videos for offline viewing and enjoy background play on mobile. YouTube Music Premium is also included in the subscription.
The YouTube Premium Family Plan used to be pretty good value at $17.99/month, especially since you share the subscription with up to 6 family members. Let us know in the comments if you think the new $22.99/month pricing is too high.
