YouTube TV Gets a Price Bump to $72.99/Month

YouTube TV is getting a big price bump starting today. Google is raising the price of the Base Plan from $64.99/month to $72.99/month for new subscribers, and the change will apply to existing subscribers starting on or after April 18, 2023.

If an FAQ about the price increase, Google explained that “as content costs have risen and we continue to invest in the quality of our service, we’re updating our price to keep bringing you the best possible TV experience.” To sweeten the pot, Google is decreasing the price of the YouTube TV 4K Plus add-on package from $19.99 to $9.99, effective today.

The YouTube TV Base Plan currently offers over 100 channels in the US and DVR with unlimited storage. This plan can be shared with up to 6 people in the same household, with support for 3 simultaneous streams. Subscribers can also pay for add-on networks including HBO Max, Showtime, and more.

Since its launch back in February 2017, YouTube TV emerged as a pretty good deal for cord-cutters needing access to live and on-demand TV from the biggest networks. At launch, the service cost $34.99/month but Google raised that price multiple times over the years as it added more channels to the service.

“We are committed to offering a premium way for you to stream TV, but understand this new price may not work for you. We do hope YouTube TV continues to be your service of choice, but we want to give you the flexibility to cancel at any time,” the YouTube TV team tweeted today.

If you’re in the US, do you think YouTube TV is still worth it at $72.99/month? Sound off in the comments below.
