Adobe Brings New AI Features to Lightroom

Adobe announced today that it is bringing new AI-powered features to Lightroom, Lightroom Classic, Lightroom Mobile, and Lightroom on the web. These new features, which include Denoise and Curves in masking, plus new adaptive presets and masking categories for selecting people, are all live now, Adobe says.

Here are some of the key new features.

Denoise. This AI-powered feature removes digital noise from images without losing any details. Adobe notes that it’s especially useful for high ISO shots in low light, and while it works only with RAW files right now, it’s coming to other file formats soon.

Curves in masking. This new feature helps you create customized and precise edits by adjusting contrast, tone, and color on specific regions of a photo.

More Select People masks. Adobe added Select People masks to Lightroom in October 2022, and now the feature has been improved to make it easier to make precise edits to clothing or facial hair.

More Adaptive Presets for portraits. Adobe rolled out Adaptive Presets last year, but Lightroom can now use AI for three new presets: Polished Portrait, Darken Beard, and Enhance Clothing. Existing presets include Enhance, Glamor, Whiten Teeth, and Texturize Hair.

Black and white for video. Lightroom gained support for video last year and now you can make any video black and white, using an effect similar to classic films.

Travel presets. Lightroom includes 18 premium travel presets so you can experiment with color combinations and editing techniques by applying multiple adjustments to a photo at once.

You can learn more about these and other new features for Lightroom for Windows, Mac, iPhone, iPad, Android, and Chrome on the Adobe website. There is also a separate document for Lightroom Classic.
