Tidal is Raising Prices

Tidal

Following Amazon and Apple, music service Tidal has alerted subscribers of its HiFi tier that it will be raising prices in August.

“The price of our HiFi subscription tier will increase on August 1, 2023 to $10.99,” a Tidal email to subscribers reads. “We wanted to remind you that your HiFi subscription will automatically renew at the new monthly price of $10.99 on your first billing date on or after August 1st … unless you cancel by then.”

The price increase is modest, as the current price for this tier is $9.99 per month, and it exactly matches recent price increases in Apple Music (which has only one tier) and Amazon Music Unlimited. Reports on Reddit and elsewhere indicate that Tidal’s price hike will hit multiple countries, with subscribers from at least the U.S., Argentina, Germany, Mexico, Spain, and the UK receiving some version of this email.

And Spotify might be following suit as well: in addition to a coming “Supremium” offering that will finally include the service’s long-awaited lossless streaming, CEO Daniel Ek said during the firm’s latest quarterly earnings conference call that the firm was “ready to raise prices.”
