Spotify Premium Now Offers 15 Hours/Month of Audiobook Listening in the US

Spotify Premium members in the US can now listen to a selection of audiobooks for 15 hours per month. This new perk was first introduced for Premium subscribers in the UK and Australia in October, and it’s intended to bring more value to a service that got more expensive in July.

Spotify’s audiobook library currently includes over 200,000 titles including “upwards of 70% of bestselling books.” The company said that the library may evolve over time, and there may also be some differences across countries. Spotify also still offers a catalog of over 300,000 audiobooks for purchase.

Audiobooks can be found in Spotify’s Home feed and search, as well as a new audiobooks hub. If you use the entirety of your 15 hours of listening time per month, you can also purchase top-up audiobook hours on the web in increments of 10 hours.

If you subscribe to Spotify Premium Duo or Family, it’s worth noting that only the plan manager can enjoy 15 hours of audiobook listening per month. Unfortunately, Spotify’s Premium Student plan also doesn’t include audiobook listening.

After making big investments in podcasts, bringing audiobooks to Spotify Premium is another way for the company to differentiate itself from Apple Music, YouTube Music, and other music streaming services. And just like podcasts, you can also save Spotify audiobooks for offline listening.
