A new Spotify on TV experience is coming soon to Smart TVs, gaming consoles, and media-streaming devices. The music streaming service detailed today what to expect from its redesigned TV apps, which will better match the features of its desktop and mobile apps.
“We’ve redesigned the Home page, bringing the big-screen experience in line with our Mobile and Desktop apps. You can now easily find familiar shortcuts to favorites, recently played audio, and personalized recommendations right on top of the Home page,” the Spotify team explained today.

Until now, Spotify on TV only allowed users to view the next song in the queue, but the new Now Playing view will now display the next eight songs in the queue. On this view, Spotify also added a Dark mode button that will dim the screen and hide album art in the background to minimize distractions.
Another big new addition is seamless account switching, which now be done by selecting the profile image in the top right corner of the screen. This will be particularly useful if you have multiple Spotify users in your household.
Spotify is available on the most popular smart TV brands and streaming media players, and the app is also available on Xbox and PlayStation consoles. One of Spotify’s killer features remains Spotify Connect, which lets you control playback from another device like your phone or PC.
