Spotify Launches New Audiobooks Access Tier in the US

Spotify is lauching today a new Audiobooks Access tier in the US. For 9.99/month, subscribers can enjoy 15 hours of listening from a catalog of over 200,000 audiobooks.

Last year, Spotify gave the same Audiobooks perk to Premium members in the US, UK, and Australia. Spotify Premium costs just one dollar more per month ($10.99) than this new Audiobooks Access tier, and it’s obviously better value if you’re looking for an all-in-one destination for music, podcasts, and audiobooks. However, this new Audiobooks Access plan may still have some value for fans of this type of content.

“With this plan and in one app experience, listeners can continue to tune into music and podcasts on our free, ad-supported service, offering a great option for literary enthusiasts who are looking for more audiobook-specific content,” the Spotify team explained today. Last year, the company said that its audiobook subscriber catalog included “upwards of 70% of bestselling books” and that the library may evolve over time.

“Since launching Audiobooks in Premium, we’ve seen a 45% increase in free users searching for and interacting with Audiobook content each day,” Spotify also said today. For users who don’t want to subscribe to Premium or this new Audiobooks Access tier, Spotify is offering 375,000 titles for purchase on its web player.
