YouTube Premium Members Can Test a New Sleep Timer

YouTube Premium Sleep timer

Google regularly makes experimental features available to test for for YouTube Premium members, and the latest one is a Sleep Timer (via 9to5Google) The new feature is available on desktop and mobile, and it allows users to automatically pause playback after a certain amount of time.

YouTube Premium members can turn the new Sleep Timer on an off on youtube.com/new. Once it’s enabled, the feature is available in the Settings Menu. As of today, users can choose to end playback after 10, 15, 20, 30, 45, or 60 minutes, and there’s also an option to stop playback at the end of the video. On mobile, the new Sleep timer is hidden behind the “Additional Settings” menu.

YouTube is a popular destination for audio-only content, and a YouTube Premium subscription also allows users to listen to videos in the background or with their screen off. This new Sleep Timer is a welcome addition, and if you use Spotify, you may know that the app has a similar Sleep timer feature that works for both podcasts and music.

This Sleep Timer will be available for testing until September 2. Not all of YouTube’s experimental features eventually roll out to the public, but this one really looks like a no-brainer.
