As Spotify has started bringing audiobooks to more users worldwide, the company has just announced a new partnership with ElevenLabs, an AI Voice Generator that can be used to create audiobooks. Spotify will now accept audiobooks generated with ElevenLabs, which can deliver human-like speech in 29 languages.
“Starting today, we’re excited to begin accepting audiobooks from ElevenLabs, an AI software company that provides easy-to-use, high-quality voice narration technology, the company said. “For authors looking for a cost-effective way to create high-quality audiobooks, digital voice narration by ElevenLabs is a great option.”
Spotify already accepted AI-narrated audiobooks from Google Play Books, which is currently free to use for a limited time. ElevenLabs uses a freemium business model, and free users only get 10 minutes of text-to-speech per month.
After creating their AI-narrated audiobooks in ElevenLabs, creators will need to submit them via Spotify’s Findaway Voices platform. “Following a standard review, the book will go live on Spotify, as well as other retailers that accept digital voice-narrated titles from Findaway Voices,” the company explained.
Audiobooks are now available for purchase on Spotify in the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands. In these markets, Spotify Premium members can now enjoy up to 15 hours of audiobook listening from an evolving library every month.
