Roku Announces New Streaming Sticks, TVs, More

Roku Streaming Stick and Roku Streaming Stick Plus

Roku announced new streaming sticks, TVs, smart home devices, and a set of updates to its software experience across devices.

“As we step into the new streaming-first era, our focus at Roku is where it’s been since day one: Redefining what streaming can be,” Roku founder and CEO Anthony Wood says. “With our intuitive interface, unmatched scale and insights, and cutting-edge innovation, the full Roku Experience doesn’t just meet expectations–it sets a new standard. I’m proud of how far we’ve come, and I’m even more excited about where we’re headed next.”

Roku claims to be “the number one streaming platform in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico,” with over 90 million households worldwide. Here’s what’s new.

Roku Streaming Stick and Roku Streaming Stick Plus. These new streaming sticks feature a streamlined new form factor that’s power efficient and won’t block other HDMI ports on the back of a TV. They’re quite small–Roku claims they’re “35 percent smaller than other brands”–and now come with the Roku voice remote (which is quite a bit bigger than the sticks). The base stick costs $29.99 and offers HD playback, while the Plus version offers 4K and HDR at $39.99.

Roku TVs. Roku’s 2025 smart TV lineup has several new features. The Roku Plus series is getting Roku Smart Picture Max, which automatically adjusts picture settings on a scene-by-scene basis, mini-LED backlighting, a remote finder button (previously only on the Pro series), and integrated cable management. And all Roku TVs will include Bluetooth Headphone Mode. As before, Roku offers a wide range of screen sizes and model types, including a new 85-inch Roku Select series.

New Roku Smart Home products. Roku announced its Roku Battery Camera and Roku Battery Camera Plus indoor/outdoor smart cameras, which can be battery powered with optional solar panel-based power. They offer Full HD (1080p) video, up to six months of battery life on the base camera and two years on the Plus, and can be controlled via the Roku smartphone app or a Roku streaming device or TV. These cameras will ship “in the coming months,” with pricing TBD.

Roku software experience. The latest Roku software update adds a Coming Soon to Theaters row, new All Things Food and All Things Home short-form content rows, and badges so you can easily find free, paid, new, and now award-winning films. The Sports Zone interface now offers a personalized highlights row, and this feature is expanding worldwide, starting with Mexico. There are various updates to the Roku mobile app, too.
