Spotify announced today that it will raise the price of its Premium Individual subscription in various markets starting in September. The price increases will impact countries across South Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Latin America, and the Asia-Pacific region, but the US won’t be affected.
In Europe, the price of Spotify Premium will change from €10.99/month to €11.99. The company didn’t detail price increases in other markets, but information will be available on this page. Subscribers will also be notified by email about the upcoming price increases.
Spotify said that it’s increasing the price of its Premium Individual subscription so that it can “continue to innovate on our product offerings and features, and bring you the best experience.” The company did add 15 hours per month of audiobook listening plus new AI features in select markets, such as the new AI DJ. However, competing services like Apple Music and Amazon Music have been offering better audio quality than Spotify for many years.
It remains to be seen how much Spotify’s lossless audio tier will cost when it finally launches later this year. In the meantime, Spotify gained 12 million new users in Q2 2025 and reached a total of 696 million monthly active users, with 276 million of them paying for Premium (up 12% year-over-year). Despite its subscriber base growing more than expected in the past quarter, the company still reported a net loss of €86 million on revenues of €4.2 billion.
