Apple is expanding the availability of its online tool for transferring music and playlists from other music services to Apple Music. According to an updated support document spotted by MacRumors, the service, which originally launched in Australia and New Zealand earlier this year, is now available in Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Mexico, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
There are several third-party services you can use today to transfer music and playlists between streaming services, and I personally used Soundiiz in the past to move my music collection from Spotify to YouTube Music. Apple says that it also relies on a third-party service to transfer music to Apple Music, and the process is free. That’s usually not the case if you go directly to a third-party service.
Transferring music and playlists to Apple Music can be done from an iPhone, iPad, Android device, or the web. An active Apple Music subscription is also required to start the process. After initiating the transfer, Apple Music will find matches for music in the Apple Music catalog, but there are some cases where the service won’t find exact matches. If that happens, users will be invited to review unmatched music and choose from alternate versions to add to their music library.
In other Apple Music-related news, the company partnered with Internet radio service TuneIn Radio to expand the distribution of its free Apple Music radio stations. The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Apple’s six ad-free radio stations can now be streamed from TuneIn, and the app will also include a link to Apple Music in case listeners want to subscribe to the music streaming service.
