YouTube TV subscribers can get a $10 monthly credit for a limited time to compensate for the recent removal of Disney channels from the platform. Disney pulled its ESPN, ABC, FX, and other Disney networks from YouTube TV on October 30 after failing to reach an agreement over fees with Google, but negotiations are still ongoing.
While around 20 Disney-owned channels have been removed from the platform, YouTube TV subscribers can get a $10 monthly credit for the next 6 months. However, some Reddit users (via Android Central) are reporting that this isn’t automatic, and not all members are currently seeing the offer.
To see if you’re eligible, you’ll need to go to the YouTube TV website, then go to Settings > Membership > Manage Plan. You can also use this direct link to check if the offer is available for your account.
According to a separate report from 9to5Google, the feud between Google and Disney has also led the latter to remove its content from the Google Play Store and YouTube. On Google TV, Disney-owned content still appears, but without a Disney+ subscription, it’s no longer available for purchase or rent.
Variety reported yesterday that Disney requested Google to bring back ABC to YouTube TV for Election Night, which is happening today in the US, but Google declined. “To truly achieve what is best for our mutual customers, we propose immediately restoring the Disney channels that our customers watch: ABC and the ESPN networks, while we continue to negotiate. Those are the channels that people want,” the YouTube team said in an email to Disney execs sent yesterday.
