Netflix Introduces Real-Time Voting for its Live Events

Netflix real-time voting

Netflix is attempting to make its live events more interactive with the introduction of real-time live voting. The feature will be available for select live events, starting with the Star Search talent competition premiering later today at 6PM PT/9PM ET.

“We first began testing an early version of this experience on Dinner Time Live with David Chang, and learned firsthand how members appreciated the seamless and integrated ways they could participate in the series,” the company said today.

In the upcoming Star Search show, real-time voting will determine who will advance in the competition during the 5-week event. There will be multiple times to vote during each episode, and results will be revealed live.

“Star Search is just the first of more moments where members like you can influence live events together from wherever you’re watching,” the Netflix team said today. On TVs, real-time voting can be done using your remote, while mobile users will need to tap their screens to vote. If you’re watching on your web browser, be aware that voting isn’t currently possible on the Netflix web app yet.
