Spotify to Start Selling Physical Books With Bookshop.org Partnership

Spotify Physical books Bookshop.org

Spotify users in the US and the UK will soon be able to purchase physical books from the app. The music, podcasts, and audiobooks platforms has just announced a new partnership with Bookshop.org, an online book marketplace that aims to financially support independent bookshops.

“This partnership is designed to connect discovery on Spotify with physical ownership, making it easier for readers to move from finding a book they’re interested in to enjoying it in the format that feels right. Purchases made on Spotify will directly support those bookshops and the authors who brought that story to life,” the company explained today.

The integration with Bookshop.org will go live later this spring, and Spotify is also preparing to roll out its new Page Match feature to bridge the gap between digital and physical books. Page match will let users scan a page of a physical book and continue from the same spot in the audiobook version. This also works the other way around, as Page Match can guide users to the correct spot in a book based on where they stopped listening.

Page Match will be available on most English-language titles by the end of February. The feature will also be available for Spotify Free users with individual audiobooks purchased on Spotify.
