Spotify’s new Prompted Playlist feature, which uses AI to create personalized music playlists based on users’ listening history and what’s popular on the platform, can now do the same with podcasts. Spotify Premium users in select markets will just need to tell the app what kind of podcasts they want to listen to, and the app will create a playlist of episodes from different podcasts that can be refreshed daily or weekly.
“Prompted Playlist makes discovery feel effortless and personal,” said Lizzy Hale, Spotify’s Global Head of Podcast Editorial. “For creators, it unlocks powerful new opportunities for discovery, bringing both back catalog and new episodes to audiences who are actively signaling what they want to hear.”
Spotify’s Prompted Playlist is currently available in beta for Premium users in the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and Sweden. To get started, users just need to tap the Create button, select ‘Prompted Playlist, and then type their podcast playlist idea. Episodes and chapters in the playlist will also include a note to explain why Spotify picked it up.

The Home screen on the Spotify mobile app may also display Prompted Playlists created by Spotify’s editorial team. To help users find some inspiration, the home page will also show prompt ideas that can be fine-tuned.
Last but not least, Spotify implemented some usage limits while its Prompted Playlist feature was in beta. These restrictions also apply to scheduled updates, but the company said that they may change as it learns from user feedback.
