Spotify addressed today one of the main pain points reported by its user base, which is the limited number of items that can be pinned for quick access in the app. Until now, Spotify users could only pin up to 4 items at the top of their library, but the company has now raised that limit to 20 items.
“For years, we’ve heard the same question: “Why can I only pin 4 things?” Fair question. You wanted more flexibility in Your Library, so we made it happen,” the team posted on X today.
One of the most requested Spotify updates is here.
Starting today, you can pin up to 20 favorites at the top of Your Library 📌
Here's why we made it and how it works 🧵— Spotify (@Spotify) July 8, 2026
As of today, Spotify allows users to pin any artists, albums, and playlists at the top of their libraries. To pin something, you just need to press and hold any item in your library and tap the pin button. Pinned items can also be rearranged at any time.
There’s one notable difference between the mobile and desktop experience: On mobile, I can pin an automated playlist with new podcast episodes, but to my knowledge, this playlist isn’t available on the desktop. The alternative is to click on the “What’s new” notification bell to see new content, but that’s not really convenient. I hope this is something the Spotify team will eventually address.
