The new Sonos Sub Mini is a less expensive wireless subwoofer for those using a Sonos Beam or Ray soundbar or a pair of Sonos One speakers.
“We’ve entered a more thoughtful era of streaming that prioritizes quality over quantity, with creators and platforms investing in immersive entertainment experiences that put premium sound at the forefront,” Sonos senior vice president Maxime Bouvat-Merlin says. “Sub Mini is a welcome addition to the Sonos family, rounding out our home theater product line-up so listeners can experience cinema-quality sound that makes them feel like the main character—or player—in their favorite content.”

The Sonos Sub Mini costs $429, comes in matte black and white colors, is available for preorder now, and will ship on October 6. The company is offering it as a lower-cost alternative to the $749 Sonos Sub, a much bigger and more powerful subwoofer that pairs most typically with the higher-end Sonos Arc soundbar or Sonos Five speakers.
But the Sub Mini inherits some of its bigger sibling’s capabilities, with buzz- and rattle-free sound and seamless setup within an existing Sonos environment. It also comes in a unique cylindrical shape that doesn’t take up too much space.
