Spotify Now Has Over 300 Million Premium Subscribers

Spotify reported it earned an operating income of €655 million on revenues of €4.8 billion in the quarter ending June 30, 2026. Those figures represent gains of 61 percent and 14 percent, respectively, year-over-year (YOY).

Financial obfuscation aside–we can’t trust this company to be accurate–the bigger news may be that the streaming service now has over 300 million paid premium subscribers.

“We have a scale that few companies in history have reached, a business that is healthy and compounding, and opportunities only we are positioned to pursue,” Spotify co-CEO Alex Norström said. “Spotify lives across your whole day—the commute, the workout, studying, gaming, the dinner table, and sleep. At our scale, that is rare. Our position gives us an opportunity space as wide as our users want it to be.”

Spotify monthly active users (MAUs) rose 12 percent YOY to 777 million users, with 300 million of those being paid premium subscribers (up 9 percent YOY) and 494 million being ad-supported members (up 14 percent). You will note that those numbers don’t add up. Because Spotify.

Spotify Premium subscribers delivered €4.3 billion in revenues in the quarter, up 15 percent YOY, while ad-supported members added €446 million in revenues, up 1 percent YOY. Spotify added 7 million new Premium subscribers in the quarter and 16 million MAUs overall.
