As you may recall, Office Mix is a powerful add-on for PowerPoint 2013 that transforms your presentations into mixes that offer interactive capabilities, online sharing, and more. Today, Microsoft released a new version of Office Mix that adds two great new features: Slide notes and closed captioning.
You can learn more about Office Mix in my post Mixing and Swaying with the Latest Office Offerings. Here’s what’s new:
When you record a mix, a new translucent Slide Notes text box will appear over the recording view, providing you with access to your slides notes, much like a teleprompter. This way, you can concentrate on your delivery rather than worry about memorizing your presentation.

With this new feature you can optionally add closed captions to your mixes, helping those with hearing impairments to enjoy your presentation. To add closed captions to a mix, you must unfortunately use “a third-party service to create a TTML (Timed Text markup Language) file that you will then upload with the mix. This is a fairly complex process, so Microsoft has created a knowledge base article explaining how.
As always, you can download Mix from the Microsoft web site.
