Building off the success of its Windows Insider program, Microsoft today announced a similar program for Office, which focuses on Office 2016 for Windows.
“Today, we’re launching Office Insider,” Microsoft corporate vice president Kirk Koenigsbauer explained. “[This] new program allows Office 365 Home, Office 365 Personal and Office 365 University subscribers to opt in to pre-release builds of Office 2016 for Windows. As an Insider, you get first-hand access to the latest innovations, putting you on the inside track for all things Office. And when you become an Office Insider, you are joining a community of like-minded power users. With your partnership, we can ensure a high quality Office experience for millions of Office users worldwide.”
According to Koenigsbauer, Microsoft will soon create an Office Insider for Mac program as well. And Office 365 commercial customers already have early access to new features via the Office 365 First Release program.
But he fails to mention an Office Insider for Android community, which provides access to test versions of Word, PowerPoint, and Excel as well. And Windows phone users have access to the next Office Mobile suite on Windows 10 Mobile via the Windows Insider program.
To get started, visit the Office Insider web site or just install the first Office Insider build of Office 2016 via Office 365. I’ll be switching my PCs over to this today for what I assume are obvious reasons.
