OMG electric heating! We had it in our house, radiating out through ceramic plates. It was actually a pleasant way to heat the house. And cost us about a moonshot a month! We had it ripped out and put in gas-powered baseboard heating throughout the house. It was a pita to get the work done but well worth it because of the savings.

Paul, that's so weird. When I went to Emmaus Jr High back in the late 90s, they would only close school when there was like a foot or more of snow. Times have changed I guess. Where I live now all businesses close for the mere threat of a single snowflake on the grass. It's kind of amusing when I'm the only one brave enough to drive in the snow here, claiming I'm a PA driver, but now I feel like I need to disassociate with them :)
