Don't let one person leave you feeling defeated, Paul. Most of us on here greatly appreciate you doing the contests and understand why there are restrictions on them.

Hey Paul, thanks for your site and podcasts as they have brought years of enjoyment and info to me over the years. Your giveaway brought a lot of happiness to people. People rarely take the time to communicate the positive experiences, only the negative stuff. Keep up the good work! ?

In reply to cadrethree:

Completely agree. Paul, Brad, MJ and Leo are as a collective some of the most honest and authentic people I've seen anywhere not just online and all that you guys do and how you present information is really refreshing and I appreciate what you guys do for us week in and week out. For tech enthusiasts that frequent your site, for me going a week without listening to you guys and reading your articles never happens.

I can feel or sympathize with our international friends though but you've more than clearly elaborated on why you've chosen not to include them this time around and you're reasons are very legitimate. For anyone that can't accept that, I can only say that I will say nothing because I have nothing nice to say to someone that can't comprehend your reasoning as anything but logical. Keep up the great work and know that we greatly appreciate your hard work on this site.

All the work you do is greatly appreciated. Giveaways are even more work than necessary. Thanks for all you do.

Your efforts are much appreciated by the vast majority I assure you. (Though I do recognize how impactful a single bad voice can have on one's day.). Cheers and good luck to all on the contest. (Tell the insulted soul from the "old world" that he or she just avoided winning and wearing that god awful sweatshirt!)

The idea that Windows on ARM exists primarily because of Surfacegate is quite disturbing. Sounds like an emotional move rather than a logical or strategic one.

I once won a Microsoft Mouse from, Neowin I think. They really wanted to send it in the correct packaging but had to resort to sending just the mouse (no box) in a padded envelope because the costs, paperwork and hassle of sending just a mouse were a nightmare so I don't blame you. Microsoft themselves do many US only giveaways so I really don't blame you.

For someone to be upset over not being eligible for a contest is incredible…. Just seems so petty

I'm just seeing if I can comment to anything.

Seems my 1st comment on todays MS Giveaway is not shown in the list. 2nd, 3rd, & 4th comments not in list either. Each time it will immediately be in list, then went to HOME, then check comment list, and it's gone.

5th try – had to type in as shown below, now my comment stays in list, I later edited the comment so it looks like what Paul wanted. Hopefully it will still be in the comment list tomorrow.

Go tablet

headphones

If I click on tj (in this comment or any of my comments), ACTIVITY tab currently shows I have 7 comments (including this one); and only 1 comment for the Surface hardware Giveaway (from 5th try)

In reply to Chris_Kez:

try putting > Go tablet on one line and headphones on second line.

this worked for me. comment was still in the list (after going to HOME, then rechecking comment list).

Later I clicked on comment 'edit' and typed in Surface (in front of Go) and deleted tablet; then I typed in Surface in front of headphones. then I did type in 'Ugly Windows sweater (Large)' on 3rd line.

I'd bet there are other members besides us, who think they have commented for the MS Giveaway, only to find out their comment is gone (like my first 4 tries). You need to check your ACTIVITY tab (as mentioned above) to see if your MS Giveaway comment is there or not (or scroll thru 100s of comments).

THANKS Paul, Chris, Mary Jo, and Leo. I'm a new member here, but a longtime Windows Weekly and Leo viewer (Tech TV).

In reply to infloop:

Late Thursday night my ACTIVITY Tab had 7 total comments with 1 for the current MS Giveaway. Turned my Dell on Friday morning and my ACTIVITY Tab now had 11 total comments with 5 for the current MS Giveaway, I deleted 4 of my comments for the current MS Giveaway, so now I have 8 total comments (including this one) and only 1 comment for the current MS Giveaway.

I checked Chris_Kez ACTIVITY Tab last night and his comment for the current MS Giveaway was not there; NOW IT IS THERE. THANKS midnight shift or gremlins.

Paul – You have been nothing but clear about the giveaway from the beginning. Its amazing how people can show their worst side when they can get something for free. Just remember that most of us really appreciate the gesture from you and from Chris Cap.

Paul, sorry you received some hate for not being able to please the entire internet. I just purchased a Premium subscription to preplace your lost subscriber. I promise I won't put any more hate on your site. Honestly I try not to put any more hate in the world as a general rule.

Cheers.

Paul, I concur with the other people commenting on this post. No matter how far backwards someone bends to please others, someone will always expect them to bend more. I also have purchased a premium subscription today since I enjoy your knowledge and wit you bring to what can be rather dry topics. Especially when you voice your frustrations on many topics, its the same frustrations many of us have with technology and life in general, e.g., the choice of our next cell phone, etc, etc. One last thing, I believe it would be an interesting few articles seeing how Brad sets up a home server, pending approval from his wife of course.

Sláinte

I remember when Intel was described as the company "where only the paranoid survive." For at least a couple of years it appears that those who shrug off design failures have also achieved survivor status.

The best Intel burn I have ever seen surfaced several years ago when some OCD chip evaluator found baked-in bad math in a newly released processor. (I remember this as the heyday of Pentium processors, but I may be wrong.)

I don't know if the graphic originated there, but The Economist illustrated their short report on the debacle with a version of the familiar sticker that read, "INSEL INTIDE."
