I've had that issue myself when copying files between computers on my home network. I think it's something in MS's functionality, as it transfers quickly then suddenly drops down to 0 for a few seconds then goes back up and continues then repeats and rinses continuously like this. I noticed that it started occurring after they made their update to not cache copying to thumb drives.

As a network engineer I was DYING when you were describing troubleshooting the problem. I so badly wanted to do packet captures on your network and figure out what was going on. Almost sounds like an MTU issue or rate limiting on SMB traffic. I have yet to finish the episode. I had to shut it off because I tried to listen to get away from my day job (had just gotten home). And found myself mentally troubleshooting the issue.

Brad — Did you resolve the issues or is that in an upcoming episode? (getting caught up).
