I can already hear some of the more hard-core Sony fans. They're going to buy the new PlayStation regardless, because there's nothing to play on Xbox … like Forza … I don't know why they speak for me, but they shouldn't. I'm a Forza fan, and I love that franchise.

I'll be buying this one for sure. We have a Xbox One S my sons and I play. We haven't purchased a physical copy of a games in years. We've been subscribed to Game Pass Ultimate and play those games. And big titles we purchase digitally. It's been cheaper to purchase an external HD to help with space. And delete games we don't play anymore to make room for new ones. And then re-download old games that we want to play again.

Hardware moves like this will make physical media more and more obsolete and expensive to produce. I think there's some off shoot related aspect here to movie theaters and movie companies releasing new movies to their subscription services instead. Cut out all the middle men, cut out departments that existed solely to produce and market their physical media. And customers can get their products immediate at their home and all their devices.

Plus less e-waste and space taken up in your home, bonus!
