<p>I just setup a new laptop with Windows 10 and I can confirm that you still can setup a local account but they sure make it tough. I can't even recall the steps but it's very nuanced and requires going into menus that you would otherwise not go in to.</p>

Even when it is offline, it asks to connect to wi-fi, if you say you don't have Internet, it resets and then asks you to connect to wi-fi, you have to say, again, that you don't have any Internet, then it allows you to proceed with a local account.</p>
<p>the reason some hang on to the old edge is, that it has fantastic memory management: i have an old tablet with 2gb of ram. if you don't multitask, you can comfotably browse the web with old edge. firefox is much laggier and chrome barely opens. come april the tablet is e-waste but progress, yeah……</p>
