Premium Member
Great job ladies. You have the same dynamic between you two as Paul and Brad have with each other. Watching you was like watching them. And also, your husbands are rock-stars. Honestly, a career highlight for me was meeting and spending time with them in Chicago a few years ago.

Hope to see you on the podcast again.

Hearing these new perspectives answers a lot of questions I've had about Paul and Brad. Everything makes so much more sense now. Seriously, excellent job, ladies.

I'll also add that unless everything in Emmaus just has a soft glow (my previous theory), it's definitely your webcam, Paul. How does Brad's streaming camera setup differ and can you copy that?

When I first got my microphone, I plugged it in, and it had a hum in the audio, because the USB hub I had it plugged into wasn't properly grounded. Once I plugged the microphone into a properly grounded USB hub, the hum went away. Your video may have some of this type of noise in it. Reading about other people who had this issue, they were referring to laptops USB ports having this issue (which you'd think would be properly grounded). I'm using the USB hub portion of my monitor, which fixed the issue.

They seemed pretty comfortable in front of the camera. I think it may be interesting for them to do a weekly or monthly podcast, just pick a topic that's interesting to them and talk about it and maybe questions after. Good job, it was fun to watch!

You two should also write a book with your wives, it would hopefully be a good experience.

Paul and Brad at dinner say to their wives: "What we do is hard and provides financial support to the family."

Wives: "What you guys do is just talk to each other and record it. Anyone could do that."

P&B: "No way, its hard."

Wives: "Hold my pocketbook and wine. Watch this." <Drops Mic>

Premium Member
OK they need a pod cast of their own. A "Confessions of a Tech Wife/Girlfriend" kind of thing where they just commiserate with each other, and all of our wives and girlfriends, about all the technology stuff we put them through. My wife would watch. Might be her favorite show next to Big Bang.

Yeah, I agree with others. Paul, your webcam picture ain't great. Maybe your house is sitting on a former graveyard (aka, the movie Poltergeist) and there's ghostly interference or something? Lots of radon in your basement (God forbid)? A micro black-hole in a sewer pipe is drawing away light? You should offer a signed copy of a t-shirt for the person who can solve that ;)

It is remarkable to note the consistent gender divide here. I sincerely wonder what the gender breakdown of the FRD audience is. I suspect that it is >95% male, which may simply be caused by the fact that its just two guys talkin but I suspect that it has more to do with the subject matter. These wonderful ladies echo what my wife is like – not that super interested in tech…happy to leave it to me and she patiently suffers along when I get carried away with some new house altering toy, er tool. There's a nugget of an opportunity to explore this further, but I suspect that underlying truth is that men and women are fundamentally different, with distinct yet complimentary interests and it is something to celebrate rather than try to force change into.

Premium Member
In reply to Ron McMahon:

Like all generalities' there are definite exceptions. While my situation is similar about tech issues, we have friends where the husbands couldn't operate the tech in their house and their car without the wives assistance.

Premium Member
Good Episode, you hear about both wives and its nice to finally see and hear their experiences. A few thoughts.

Good Job Brad on the toilet paper roll.

I think Paul would be better than most amazon delivery drivers. I have had some experiences where they couldn't figure out addresses. My fear is with Paul is day one he would be delivery smiles by day 5 he's chucking them at the house because he is tired of the PA Drivers.

Dear Paul & Brad – huge mistake guys. You have now been replaced.

All kidding aside, your wives are naturals and very comfortable in these podcast roles. Hope you will bring them back with specific topics. A great example was the Sonos discussion – they couldn't say it was "necessary" but that it "added value" to the listening experience – a very good distinction.

Premium Member
Great job Karin (sp?) and Stephanie (sp?)!! You ladies did a marvelous job and it was really nice of you both to participate and share your lives and insights with all of us Dweebs & Nerds!! I think you both could do a Podcast of your own on just about any topics you like and you would do very well. We all appreciate you putting up with your husbands, as does my wife, and adding a wonderful balance to their lives. I think we can all tell when either Brad or Paul mention you in their podcast, that there is this special fondness (and fear, as there should be! ;-}) for you. We can all tell that you all share warm feelings for one another and that is something to be admired and cherished in this grand experiment we all find ourselves in. Nothing is perfect but, it is the working to get there that matters. Please continue to watch over our fine friends and make sure they behave! Thanks to you all for all you do for all of us! Take care and may peace and health be upon you, your families, and your loved ones! MN

Premium Member
Echoing the kudos – to the gentlemen for being smart enough to ask these two awesome ladies to marry you and to host ep. 1000 and to the ladies for hosting. This was a lot of fun to watch. New question – now that the questions have revealed a bit about the audience (more accurately, about what the audience takes away from the show), are you more likely to watch the show? 🙂

I think the main reason I don't have Philips Hue lights or more home automation is because I know my wife's (and our daughter's) reaction would be the same. My wife doesn't even like that I get a notification that the oven is preheated or that its timer is done and it appears to bother her when I don't take the Roku TV remote but, instead, use the Roku app on my phone.

I need to find something my wife really wants to watch on TV (repeatedly) that has practically unusable audio via the TV but which would benefit from a sound bar. Suggestions?

It's funny how you visualize what they may look like, sound like, act like when you have never seen them. Of course it turns out different. Regardless, however, they were wonderful.
