Actually Apple has gained market share since the introduction of the M1 chip, from some 7% to over 9%. So I think they will win over some of the users that went to Windows because they were dissatisfied with the Mac computers of the Intel era.

And although the computers look thicker, the 16” is only 0.5 mm thicker. The shape makes it look thicker. And the 14” is actually 0.1 mm thinner.

Interesting article in Bloomberg about the "Post-Ive Apple." That after Job’s passing and up to Ive’s departure, perhaps there was an outsized amount of Ive-influenced form-over-function. And maybe that’s starting to wane.

Paul, I know you literally could not care less about AirPods pricing, but because I’m broken I feel compelled to provide some context. AirPods 2 were $199 with a wireless charging case. They are no longer for sale and have been replaced by the $179 AirPods 3. There was also a $159 AirPods 2 sku that came with a wired charging case; that product has been reduced to $129.

So now they have options at $129, $179, $249 (AirPods Pro). I suspect we’ll see holiday deals bring those down to $99, $169, $199, respectively.
